The Brasserie restaurant in Bletchley, Milton Keynes is an award winning establishment, with five-star reviews on TripAdvisor and a strong reputation locally. They were preparing for a revamp to modernise their somewhat dated interior, and were wanting a new website to showcase the new look and feel.

The Brasserie is one of MK College’s leading commercial centres; a training kitchen and restaurant where students work to create a unique dining experience whilst gaining invaluable industry experience. Although it’s a well established restaurant, their online presence existed only within the College’s main website. By not having its own identity there were few online enquiries, and the company realised they were missing out on a lot of potential visitors through not having a dedicated website.

The Challenge

The restaurant wanted to show off their new restaurant online, with an eye-catching website that would help drive reservations and private hire bookings. Not being overly tech-savvy, the staff needed a way to easily update the content on the website which included menus, opening times and private hire booking forms. By targeting both college students and food lovers, the website needed a solid structure that consisted of numerous content pages to help with targeted keyword landing pages for search engines.

The Result

The Brasserie’s new website has been a hit with both customers, students and staff alike. Since launching, the site has seen thousands of page views, and now has an impressive organic ranking on Google with 35% of new visitors finding the site via search engines.

To meet both the business requirements and budget for this project, the technical approach was to provide the staff with a WordPress content management system that would allow them to easily control the content of the website. A component-based structure means they can easily build pages with sections of content from any of their existing templates, giving them great flexibility with familiar content regions. As a developer, I ensured the site was fast performing and fully responsive, to help boost their search engine rankings.
